I'm singing along to Faith Hill, Dolly Parton and Toby Keith. My braiding skills are getting better. I've adopted the name Georgia moreso now than ever. My cowboy hat is waiting for me in the truck so I can get immediately into character on the drive home. Today I am wearing a western shirt to work, appropriation is key.

in other news:
I mailed a child's red cowboy boot to the Henry Art Gallery and learned that it's on display (anonymously and without postage). AJ has created one mighty fine wanted poster for us. One team member is on vacation for one week prior to the performance. She will return on Wednesday 7/27. We have already had dress rehearsals, etc. so we are prepared but it is nerve-wrecking to not have all parties at all practices leading up to a performance. I am moving the weekend of the performance and even leaving for vacation just 6 hours after the event! I thought of )utch (ountry because I lived near Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Recently, here is Seattle, I attended a fair and saw a booth labeled: Pennsylvania Dutch Funnel Cake, man that stuff is good! Since we use parenthasis in our current name, On the Double (dutch), I just reversed the parenthasis.

Last evening I went out to Pioneer square for first thursday and I wore a pretty rockin' country outfit. It was a little too cute. by that I mean that it attracted more attention than the 'art' of it. I realized that I feel much more confident being homely than hoochy. I have a hard time holding character. One time when I was trying out the hoochy look, in 2003, I dropped my truck off for some repairs and I told the mechanic that I didn't normally dress like this. He could have cared less.

I have learned that cowboy hats get a lot of attention. Men talk to you in a very excited manner and you name becomes 'cowgirl'. We also took photo's in some of the new country outfits. I'm addicted to country music so I'm drafting a song of my own- so far I have the chorus:

oh, I'm the sadest cowgirl
ever walk this land
due to food allergies
I can't drink with my man

doctor told me
you gotta watch what you eat
your allergic to fermented foods
and especially wheat!

I'm trying to get into character but here is a list of things that are missing from my life: animals, a ranch, chest hair and the occasional drink. so far the clothes that I'm wearing have all been found in the 'costume' section of second hand stores. I want to be legitimate. I want to cut bangs and curl them (my other art project limits me from doing this). I want to wear cowboy boots (read first entry on how important footwear is to me). I'm excited to move into the trucker hat, wife beater and daisy dukes. I could get used to that.

Truck Drivin' Mama

is it because my truck is bigger than yours? or is it just that I'm a girl? cause if I was driving around in a jetta or a saturn you wouldn't be so rude, you wouldn't ask that question. let me step back for a minute, you seem like a nice fella, I don't want you to put your foot in your mouth any further so I'll review for you- my credentials for driving truck.

I'll start early with the '57 Chevy that was 3-on-the-tree. couldn't go over 45mph but it was fun to cruise around in. then there was the 'Brute'. a '79 Ford, V8 engine, 36" tires, jacked up in the back, equipped with a tow belt, gun rack and those clamps to roll up the windows. I would pile my friends in the back and drive through the nearby crick. I could drive that thing with a hitch on the back that held 7 canoes and reverse it, uphil,l in the red clay of Pennsylvania. The truck I have now, It's what I learned stick on in highschool. I expressed to the women that we do not want to perform the electric slide as our line dance- we will learn an another line dance to add to our performance.

I've been driving my truck with my cowgirl hat on- blaring the country music (102.9), kinda wishin' I was still driving the '79 Ford, a little embarrased, but owning it at the same time....

all gramatical errors throughout this blog are figment of your imagikination.
